Bori Rámpay. Illustration

My name is Borbála Rámpay.I was born in 1984 in Budapest, Hungary. I started learning drawing and painting at an early age. My first steps towards my carreer in art were in GYÍK, a workshop run by the National Gallery.

Right afterwards, I was taught by the masters József Baksai and Péter Kemény in Budai Rajziskola (Drawing School of Buda) and by Gábor Roskó in Óbudai Képzőművészeti Szakközép Iskola (Vocational Art School of Óbuda).

Having taken a Degree in Painting, my husband – László Balassa, photographer – and I moved to Spain. My first independent exhibition is related to Spain too. It took place in Lloret de Mar, in 2006. I got a Degree in Fine Art from the University of Barcelona in 2012, it was the same year when our daughter, Emma was born.

My interest gradually shifted towards graphics. While attending the university, I had the opportunity to acquire the methods of classical graphics, which allows me to create large-scale space installations, handcrafted notebooks, objects and experimental pieces of art. Drawing was always an essential component of my work and so, it led me directly towards the world of illustration. Within that, I am mainly interested in children's books.
